Many businesses use aggressive bot protection through Cloudflare or AWS WAF. While it can block spam, it can also block AI agents, such as PerplexityBot or Firecrawl. My advice for this issue is
- Whitelist major AI crawler IPs, especially from US data centers.
- Use selective firewall rules, not blanket blocks. This ensures that AI search agents can actually access your content, helping you rank in ai search results
Step 6: Create llms.txt and Sitemap.xml files
An exciting new customization is the llms.txt file. It works like robots.txt but specifically for large language models (LLMs). It tells AI agents what they can and can’t use.
